Punches Fly at Beşiktaş Meeting: President Attacked in Shocking Brawl: You Won’t Believe Who Started It!

Punches Fly at Beşiktaş Meeting

Chaos erupted at Beşiktaş JK’s 2025 Divan Kurulu meeting yesterday, turning a routine assembly into a battleground as former club president Hasan Arat was shockingly assaulted by Divan Kurulu President Tevfik Yamantürk.

The incident, captured live on TRT Spor, has sent shockwaves through Turkish football, exposing deep rifts within one of the country’s most storied clubs.

Punches Fly at Beşiktaş Meeting

The drama unfolded during Hasan Arat’s speech at the meeting, held to discuss the club’s direction since its last Süper Lig title win in the 2020-21 season under Sergen Yalçın.

Tensions were already high as general assembly members voiced their frustrations. When the Divan Kurul President attempted to call for a break, Arat refused, insisting on continuing his speech. What followed was a heated exchange that spiraled out of control.

Witnesses report that Arat called Yamantürk an “Utanmaz adam!” (shameless man), prompting Yamantürk to retaliate with, “Utanmaz sensin terbiyesiz!” (You’re the shameless one, rude!) before landing a punch on Arat.

The scuffle, witnessed by stunned attendees including Hüseyin Yücel, led to immediate police intervention. The meeting was abruptly postponed, leaving Beşiktaş fans reeling from the public display of discord.

The incident has reignited scrutiny of Arat’s tenure, with some pointing to his controversial past. Last October, Arat’s driver, Sezgin Gülnar, made headlines for assaulting A Spor journalist Emre Kaplan after a heated Galatasaray-Beşiktaş derby, which Galatasaray won 2-1.

Gülnar was arrested and banned indefinitely from sports venues, an episode that tarnished Arat’s reputation. Social media reactions, including a viral post by Galatasaray fan @ArsenFutboLupen, have mocked Arat, with many claiming he “had it coming” after allegedly encouraging such behavior in the past.

Sen öyle serseri gibi şoförünle gazeteci dövmeye/dövdürmeye kalkarsan bir gün döner o yumruğu kendin yersin Hasan Arat,

@ArsenFutboLupen wrote on X, a sentiment echoed by many rival fans who see this as karmic justice. The post, which included a screenshot of the TRT Spor broadcast showing a disheveled Arat, has since garnered thousands of likes and shares, amplifying the humiliation.

Arat later addressed the incident, expressing his disappointment: “Yaşananları söylemedim, kulübümü rencide etmedim. Tahammül edemiyorlar,” he said, accusing Yamantürk of disloyalty to Beşiktaş and demanding his immediate resignation.

“Tevfik Yamantürk, derhal Divan başkanlığından istifa etmelidir,” Arat declared, hinting at deeper internal conflicts involving past club decisions, including a controversial remark about Süleyman Seba, a revered Beşiktaş figure.

Beşiktaş, a club with a proud history as one of Turkey’s “Big Three” and the first Turkish team to advance undefeated to the UEFA Champions League knockout phase in 2017-18, now faces a public relations nightmare. The club’s last major success was the Turkish Cup in the 2023-24 season, but incidents like this threaten to overshadow its legacy.

As the dust settles, questions remain: Will Yamantürk step down? Can Beşiktaş heal its fractured leadership? And what does this mean for the club’s future in Turkish football? One thing is certain—this scandal has given rival fans, especially Galatasaray supporters, plenty to cheer about as they watch Beşiktaş implode from within.
