What Happened?

Around 9 p.m., Davis was crossing the intersection of West 53rd Street and Broadway when a black 2023 Cadillac XT6 making a left turn hit her. She suffered severe head and body trauma and was rushed to Mount Sinai West hospital, where she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with police; no charges have been filed as the NYPD Collision Investigation Squad continues its probe.

Who Was Wenne Alton Davis?

Born Wendy Davis in North Carolina in October 1965, she moved to New York City in her twenties and built a respected career in supporting television roles. Besides “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” she appeared as a nurse in “New Amsterdam,” lent her voice to “Girls5eva,” and had parts in “American Odyssey.” She began in stand-up comedy before transitioning to acting and was beloved for her warmth and professionalism on set.

Her agent, Jamie Harris, called her “a joy to work with” and highlighted her deep love for New York, acting, and her wide circle of friends and family.
